How Christina Farias built a holistic health coaching business with My PT Hub: From touring with rockstars to coaching the world

There aren’t many holistic health coaches who can say their career has taken them from beach boot camps in Maui to a tour bus with Fleetwood Mac. Christina Farias, founder of Farias Fitness, is one of them. But her story isn’t just about remarkable life experiences; it’s about how she took every twist, setback and opportunity and channeled it into building a holistic health coaching business and personal brand fuelled by love and a passion for health.

Today, Christina runs a multi-layered online coaching business that spans private clients, group programs and a major corporate health insurance partnership. She’s built a digital learning academy packed with years of custom content, 17 cookbooks, and thousands of workout demonstrations filmed in hotel gyms around the world. And at the heart of it all is My PT Hub, the platform she credits as the backbone of her business.

This is her story.

A career shaped by curiosity and conviction

Christina’s path into fitness wasn’t a straight line, but every step was intentional. Growing up as one of the few children of Hispanic background in a predominantly white school in New Hampshire, she developed an early awareness of body image and health. Rather than let that pressure define her negatively, she turned it into a driving question: how does my body actually work, and how do I take care of it properly?

That curiosity led her to study exercise physiology and nutrition in college, where she also played field hockey and competed on the snowboard team. She was an athlete who wanted to understand the science behind her own body and activity, which would later become the foundation of her entire coaching philosophy.

After graduating, she moved west and built her first fitness business around triathlons and outdoor endurance groups, which evolved into a beach boot camp. At 23, she made the decision to move to Maui to improve her surfing, knowing the island had a strong fitness community. Within six months of arriving, she’d built a thriving in-home personal training business and connected with musician Mick Fleetwood.

From Maui to the road with Mick Fleetwood

What started as a client relationship grew into something much more. Christina became the wellness coach for Mick Fleetwood and went on tour as part of his team for nearly a decade, right up until COVID-19 brought everything to a halt. Her role went far beyond personal training; she cooked fully organic, anti-inflammatory meals, managed restoration therapy, and provided nutrition guidance for both Mick and bandmate Christine McVie. She even traveled with a mobile kitchen.

It was extraordinary work, and it gave Christina a depth of real-world experience that most coaches never get. But it also came with a cost: she was always working for someone else’s schedule, someone else’s needs. When COVID hit and the touring world shut down, she already knew it was time to build something of her own.

“I didn’t want to live for anybody else anymore. Touring required working all the time for others. I wanted to build something that was mine.”

The injury that changed everything

The seeds of Farias Fitness’s digital future were actually planted a little earlier, during a severe knee injury Christina sustained while training for American Ninja Warrior. She tore every ligament in her knee and was forced into a chair for months. For many coaches, that would have been a crisis. For Christina, it became a catalyst.

Unable to train clients in person, she spent hundreds of hours learning My PT Hub inside out and building her online business from scratch. She uploaded thousands of workout clips filmed in hotel gyms across the world, entered recipes, wrote program descriptions, and customized every corner of the platform to look and feel like a Farias Fitness product.

“My PT Hub fell into my life. It was one of the most amazing things to happen to me because it allowed me to build an online business even when I physically couldn’t do what I’d always done.”

The process demanded dedication, but she knew that investing time into building her brand’s foundation was exactly what would set her business up for long-term success.

Building the Farias Fitness digital academy

What Christina built inside My PT Hub goes well beyond a library of workouts. Over the years, she’s developed what she describes as a full digital learning academy, built around the concept of integrative nutrition: an approach that considers the whole person, their sleep, stress, hormones, lifestyle and physiology, rather than just their diet or training in isolation.

The platform hosts 17 cookbooks she hopes to professionally publish, a comprehensive resource library including workbooks, curriculum slideshows, and educational worksheets, and a “learning lounge” that functions as a client campus. Topics range from optimal blood sugar ranges and heart rate variability to advanced diet strategies and biohacking methods like continuous glucose monitoring.

Clients can upload progress photos, track food and workouts, and access years of Farias Fitness content; some of it dating all the way back to 2016. Seven years of progress photo history means long-term clients can see their transformation in a way that numbers on a scale simply can’t capture.

For Christina, My PT Hub isn’t just a tool. It’s an extension of her brand.

“I wanted My PT Hub to look like a Farias Fitness app. Everything in there is mine. My branding, my recipes, my workouts, my content. When clients open it, they’re in my world.”

COVID, a Men’s Journal feature, and 250 inquiries in one hit

When COVID-19 hit and the world moved online, Christina was already ready. Her platform was built, her content was uploaded and she had a fully functioning digital coaching business waiting to go.

Then an article about her client Michael Franti, who’d gotten fit working with Farias Fitness, was published in Men’s Journal. The result? 250 coaching inquiries, almost overnight.

“I already had the platform built. That was life-changing. If I hadn’t put in all that work during the injury, I wouldn’t have been ready.”

Free online Zoom classes followed, demand surged, and Farias Fitness grew rapidly. Her business runs primarily on word-of-mouth; what she calls “coconut wireless,” a nod to her Maui roots. No paid ads, no clickbait funnels. Just results that speak for themselves, and clients who tell their friends.

How My PT Hub powers the holistic Farias Fitness model

Christina’s coaching model is structured across several tiers: private one-to-one coaching, group coaching delivered in six-week modules, and a maintenance tier for clients who’ve hit their milestones. There’s also an app-only access option for those who want the resources without the live accountability component.

My PT Hub sits at the center of all of it.

Custom workouts built around the individual

Christina’s training philosophy is summed up in a phrase she uses with every client: “stimulate, don’t aggravate.” Every workout in My PT Hub is customized to the individual; accounting for injuries, fitness levels, and progressive overload principles. She uses her own demonstration videos throughout, so clients are following Farias Fitness methodology, not generic exercise library clips.

Nutrition tracking and custom recipes

As an integrative nutritionist, food logging is central to Christina’s work. The ability to upload custom recipes and create meal templates inside My PT Hub means clients aren’t just logging meals against a generic database; they’re working within a curated Farias Fitness nutrition system that ties directly to her cookbooks and educational content.

Client messaging and boundaries

Managing the relationship with clients at scale requires clear boundaries, and My PT Hub’s messaging feature helps Christina hold them. She uses the app as the primary communication channel for client notes and feedback, and can see when a message has been read, which reduces the need for clients to reach out via direct text. She’s also started protecting her weekends, something that matters when you’re genuinely invested in the people you work with.

Progress tracking and the long view

Christina requires every client to upload a smiling profile photo from day one. It’s not vanity; it’s connection. Seeing a client’s face smile, and watching that face change over months and years, is part of what makes the relationship real. The platform’s progress tracking tools, including weight trends, workout logs, and long-term photo timelines, help her show clients how far they’ve actually come, which is often far more meaningful than any single metric.

A corporate contract, built on a platform that could hold it

Christina recently secured a major partnership with Sigma health insurance as their integrated nutritionist and preventive health specialist. My PT Hub’s structure and capabilities were central to making that contract possible. The platform could accommodate the scale; a group coaching cohort that filled up in a single day with a waiting list. That’s the kind of validation that years of infrastructure building makes possible.

Scaling with heart: the challenge of growing without losing the human touch

For all that Christina has built, she’s clear about the challenge ahead. Scaling to hundreds of participants without losing the quality of her personalized metabolic assessments, detailed intake reviews and genuine one-to-one connection is the hardest problem she’s working on right now.

“My biggest strength is deep empathy and memory. I remember people’s dogs, their health struggles, their past. That’s what makes what I do different from a generic employee wellness program.”

She’s not interested in a high-volume, low-touch model. Her goal is quality at scale: building a curriculum thorough enough to train other coaches in her methodology, and eventually, writing the book that becomes the definitive guide to metabolic rehabilitation and lifestyle change. The platform grows with her as she figures out what that looks like.

“I went all in on My PT Hub. And I appreciate having a real human Support Team, people like Ryan [Head of Business Development, My PT Hub] who actually care, not just an AI bot.”

Key lessons from Christina’s holistic health coaching business

Christina’s journey contains lessons that apply to coaches at every stage. Here are the most transferable:

  • Build your platform before you need it. Christina’s injury forced her to prepare early. That preparation meant she was ready when opportunity knocked.
  • Your niche is your edge. Integrative nutrition coaching allowed Christina to go deeper than general fitness, which is what attracted a corporate health partnership.
  • Content compounds. Every recipe, workout demo and educational resource she uploaded years ago still serves clients today.
  • Word of mouth is a growth strategy, not just a happy accident. Results-driven work, genuine relationships and a branded experience all feed it.

Christina’s advice for coaches building their own path

Christina is now based in Los Angeles, bringing the same energy and intention to her business that she’s brought to every stage of her career. When she talks to younger coaches, especially women, her advice is direct.

“Success requires dedication and sacrifice. Your social life, your habits, the choices you make every day. You have to be the example.”

She also says something that not enough coaches hear: enjoy the process of building. The hundreds of hours she spent entering recipes, writing descriptions, filming demos, and uploading content to My PT Hub felt like work at the time. Looking back, they were the foundation of everything.

“Entrepreneurs have to enjoy the journey. Those hours weren’t wasted. They were the brand.”

For coaches who are just starting out, or who are staring down an injury or a pivot and wondering what comes next, Christina’s story is a reminder that the platform you build, the content you create, and the relationships you invest in don’t disappear when life changes direction. They compound.
